This Is Us
Fire crackles from the living room fire place, while our son Dominic lies in front of the fire watching the flames dancing and making funny shadows on the wall. I sit here on the floor beside him writing this as I drink a delicious chia latte.
It is one of those evenings when those who love books curl up with a book, coffee a blanket and just live in the romance of a heart warming story, perhaps a story" like The Blue Castle" or " A little Princes", those are the two that come to mind. My husband asked me, what is a good book to read and I replied with Lucy Maud Montgomery would be a good choice! He makes a face as he is not a fan of those.
And now I'll tell you about us. In October we will be married 2 years the fastest 2 years I ever lived through! The we is, my husband Matt the one who does a wonderful job of providing for our family, he lays block on new homes, remodels and whatever else needs the strong hands of a mason worker. He also does some auctioneering and would love to do more then just helping other auctioneers, he does have his first big retirement sale this October, we are very excited for that. Although I am not the type of person that loves auctions I am really happy a dream of his is coming true. He is the type of person who loves last minuet events. One day @ 9;30 he called me from work, "Hey could you be ready to leave for Virginia at 12 to help my uncle lay some block?" I gulp and say yes, immediately the phone drops from my hand and I dash wildly @ trying to finish the deep cleaning I just started. He also loves tractors and working in fields for his brother who does some custom farming. And since July he has become a wonderful daddy to our little son.
Dominic Myles, our first child was born on July 13th he arrived exactly on the day he was supposed to, we were planning on a naturel birth but due to complications during labor we ended up doing a c-section. He entered the world at 12;58 a.m. weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20 in. long. We had a time getting him to eat properly and that first week was a roller coaster of highs and lows. I thought I new what to expect after birth I found out,( BEING A MOM IS NOT EASY.)But it is worth every sleepless night, every pamper needing changed, because God has chosen me to be this tiny miracles mommy. I know he will help in ever circumstance if I go to him daily for help, God is so good.
Dominic was a very content and happy baby up till 5 weeks. And then we found out what it means to have a grouchy baby! He never slept during the day unless I held him, and I almost dreaded seeing evening come, he screamed and cried for a couple hours till he was so warn out he fell asleep and after he was asleep we learned not to lay him in his crib for a couple hours yet or he'd wake up and would repeat the whole thing. And now at at 11 weeks we have our happy baby back!
A peek into Dominic and my mornings... he usually wakes up between 6-7, I feed him and then sit him on the recliner in our room while I dress myself, make the bed, start a load of laundry he loves watching the ceiling fan spin,( this has proved to be a great entertainment.) We then move to the kitchen and I put Dominic in his swing as I make my much needed coffee, eggs and toast. He sits in his swing cooing and smiling when I talk to him and you forget any sleep you lost, his beautiful eyes smiling so trustingly up at you melt your heart. If he is happy after I am done eating I've found having devotions then, is pry. the best time, seemingly if I don't set aside that time spent with God I have a hard time finding time later during the day cause I'm usually full swing in taking care of the baby or preparing food or cleaning.
And then myself of course, I am a home maker, and I love it! I honestly never could imagine I'd be some one who enjoys a vegetable garden but the feeling of planting tiny seeds and then receiving fruits from my labors feels like a job well done, when I see rows of canned goodies proudly standing in straight rows on shelves, I think of none other then the proverbs 31 women. I also enjoy a neat house no clutter! Clutter is the best way to make me feel grouchy and take away my energy, so in order to be a cheerful morning person I have found cleaning up every evening before I go to bed helps a lot, having clutter free counter tops, straitening the living room pillows and having the kitchen table cleared helps a lot! believe me I'm still not at the point where I hop out of bed and say "good morning honey, what do you want for breakfast"? unlike my husband, just this morning he was telling me the left over chili soup from last night would be good for breakfast, (at 5;30 that was enough to make my stomach feel sick!!!)
I am also a book lover, my favorite authors are Lucy Maud Montgomery and Lynn Austin, I like many more books to but those are books I read over and over and some how I still laugh and cry over parts, Rainbow Valley I read twice this year already and I'll pry. read it again this winter, those people seem so real, Anne is like a friend to me.
I also enjoy writing as you can see, I keep a journal but other then that I've done almost no other writing since Dominic joined us.
During the summer months we also like biking to our parents place about once a week for supper, we usually end up sitting @ the camp fire till pretty late at night sometimes singing but mostly just talking. We also enjoy disk golfing, soft ball, volley ball and fishing. Most times these things happen with our families, uncles, aunts, cousins, church families or youth group, I come from a family of 10 children and my husband comes from a family of 5, we are so blessed to have these people in our lives.
I hope you enjoyed the -This Is Us article- I want to leave this verse with you.
For we are saved by hope; but hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man seeth, why doeth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not then do we with patience wait for it. Romans 8-24;25
